Just like we laugh at them for GENUINELY being devoid of soul and knowledge, they think the exact same. They legitimately think they're smart and kind humans. Acting like they don't exist online or you are not afraid/bothered (in an in person situation) will get at them because they want reactions.

They play him like a fiddle and he's too narcissistic (I use this word understanding there are different levels of NPD and he got the extreme end of the stick. Not everyone with NPD has evil intent, that goes for all mental disorders) to even see he's being bung kissed to be manipulated.
