30 years ago these people would have been reading books or newspapers, taking a break from the art, looking at tourist maps, or chatting about (gasp!) non-Caravaggio-related subjects. We just do a lot of that on handheld devices now.

Perhaps there's nothing in the corpus at all, to suggest what intonation to give such a strange and repetitive sentence? I'd expect any random sequence of just two words to go the same way, and for the exact repetition to leap out to the listener under the en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Speech-...

Steven Levitt ran a study a decade ago asking people to make life-changing decisions based on a coin flip, which were followed up: "Individuals who are told by the coin toss to make a change are [...] happier six months later than those who were told by the coin to maintain the status quo."

Probably an old domain that expired and got bought up by a spammer. Was common even before AI for spammers to fill out the known, previous structure of a site with plausible replacement content, rather than 404 errors. I guess they'll add the spam or sell the domain on later.
