Sydney's trains in my art style over time! (how have the years gone by so quickly 😭)

Just noticed I've accidentally left out East Richmond and Leightonfield here -- the perils of using an 86 year old map as reference! 😭

The City Circle was conceived by one of Sydney's greatest planners, John Bradfield!

Thank you very much! And thanks for the suggestion with the line colours -- I've now made that change!

A map in my style showing the late 2040s Sydney network, based on the recent leaked TfNSW diagram!

A great article that traces the early development of Sydney's transit maps, with a lot of interesting examples! The influence of Beck's design style up until the 70s was a big inspiration for my own 2020s TfL-style Sydney map.

I made this starter pack of transit map makers on Bluesky back when I first joined. It's been while and I bet there are more of you out there now. Who are we missing? Let me know!

Sydney's current (well, near-future) rail network in the style of the 1939-1953 Beck-style pocket map!

Recoloured my map to mimic the visual styles of the 1998-2004 and the 2004-2013 CityRail maps! The colours of the 2004- map especially gives me such a nostalgic feeling

The Beck-inspired era of Sydney transit maps was followed by the introduction of a very '70s, Vignelli-esque look that I am obsessed with. The dark-theme 1979 diagram made by the PTC for the opening of Martin Place Station is a big influence on my main personal map project!

I've had the occassional comment that my map contains information aimed at transit fans that may make it more difficult for the average viewer to follow -- so I had a go at making a pared-back version! Only showing the information present on the current official maps (more or less):

Apparently its yet another International World Day of something - cats apparently. Anyhow for all you lovers of moggies here's a c.1955 Swiss poster for Zwicky cotton thread by the marvellous artist/designer Donald Brun #cats

Zwicky Swiss Cotton : poster by Donald Brun : c.1955 : A famous Swiss product, Zwicky sewing cottons, by a famous Swiss poster designer and artist Donald Brun. Brun's career spanned many years during the 20th century and he was a highly acknowledged producer of posters such as this charming cat! Zwicky is now part of the Gütermann company. The poster is dominated by a smiling black cat, with green slits for eyes, holding a bright red bobbin of red thread that is wrapped around its two front legs.

I rode a trolley on the weekend! Well, not a real one – but the MI Trolley is a surprisingly frequent (and free) bus service linking the downtowns of Independence and Monmouth, Oregon. Got us to Monmouth for pizza after a hard day of canoeing the Willamette!

Melbourne Metro Tunnel opens in a few months, so I’ve been updating my Melbourne Train and Tram map to reflect the network changes it will usher in.

My map is now in its 30th year, and Metro Tunnel introduces the biggest changes I've made to this map.

Let’s look at the changes (1 of 10).
