I usually go opposite points across the back, making a many pointed star (as that was the first example i saw), but tried what you've done here and that was much easier 😀

Thanks, my other thought was using a single thread of colour and one white for the "base", then stitching over with white, but that is still starting again, hadn't thought of variegated but you're right that would probably work too if I found the right one

So, Cross stitch peeps, it's supposed to look like the shirt in the pic, so I tried stitching over the base colour with white to get the subtle colour effect, but I'm not sure it's working, any ideas on how to recover it?
