Education should be for education’s sake, and equating it with “childcare”undermines its purpose to help create an educated populous.
Also, check your privilege. Hard working 2nd and 3rd shifters, like police officers don’t have the luxury of a school day that coincides with their work schedule.

Some states have SS standards for elementary… that doesn’t mean individual districts provide time in the day to teach it. CCSS social studies standards start on page 60… grade 6.

Yes, and civics needs to be taught in schools, in every grade K-12. CCSS doesn’t have social studies standards until 6th grade. We have at least one whole generation that hasn’t had social studies classes in elementary school because testing companies prioritize math and reading thanks to NCLB/RTT

If Democrats would have unified in that moment, and stood behind Green, it would have dominated the news cycle instead of the placating tricks meant to pull at heart strings during SOTU. They were cowards in pretty pink suits or yellow and blue ties.
