WE ARE OPEN, having populated a wall with New Comics, shelves with Less New Comics, and cabinets with Trading Cards! Some of the books are still eepy and not upright yet and there are definitely lots more work do be done but YAY WE ARE OPEN AGAIN at 831 Hiawatha Pl S!

Remember how we said we were planning on reopening Thursday? Yeah that didn't work out. We will still have contractors fixing the final bits of the store tomorrow so we'll be pushing the soft reopening until Friday 11/14.

Thing I didn't mention in the blog post: while the big impetus for change was because "Outsider" no longer describes us, the readers we serve, and the creators we carry, the inverse of that also played a small part in the decision. The majority of self-proclaimed "Outsiders" who reach out to us...🧵

This has been a really rough few days. I recently learned of a controversy around our book THE PRINCESS IN BLACK AND THE PRINCE IN PINK. Some were outraged that Deseret Book carried it (a chain of bookstores in the west). Deseret Book appears to have complied to their demands and removed it. 1/

We're been quiet because we're working on the new space... So far we've gotten the speaker systems working and playing video game music, internet hooked up mostly, built a new counter, and gave Kevin a perch overlooking the shop (the most important part).

We're opening our new space tomorrow Thursday 8/30 for another preview event: MtG Commander Party with Spiderman! Join us at 831 Hiawatha Pl S from 6pm to 9pm and play some commander! Note: We're still working on the new space we can't sell you things and the space is not yet wheelchair accessible.

Moving Update! After lots of demolition (who gave Kevin a crowbar????) and work we've taken over 1000 lbs of stuff to thrift shops and the Fremont transfer center. We've salvaged as much of the old furniture as we could but unfortunately most of it had to go to the dump :(

We're opening up our Fremont location thus Sunday 10/26 for one more day of free and name your own price displays, furniture, and random lil things like signs and wire racks and a whole fridge! Come by 3 to 8 PM; park your car out front for loading. Come TAKE STUFF!
