Time to admit these orgs never believed any of this shit once something truly horrific happened in America, it was all an act

They also are not GDPR compliant, and their whole shtick is based on this weird AI manifesto where in the future everyone gets their own personal filter bubble. Unfortunately what other alternatives are there really? DuckDuckGo I guess?

(Video is from february 2025, before Trump really attacked the fed nor fed independence in any real way)

I don't think that matches reality. Almost a year ago Jerome Powell testified before congress about how attacks on DEI and bureaucratic independence would be devastating. He's consistently had more of a spine than I think anyone else near power this administration.

😮 Maybe that’s the key. Maybe I’d finally stop procrastinating and start blogging if I did that too

Have this question for @werd.io too! I figure ultimately it doesn’t really matter, but I’ve yet to find a decent word processor for blogging that isn’t Google Docs - which I hate using because it’s Google Docs

Out of curiosity what app do you use to actually write your posts in? Ghost has a pretty good built-in editor but I have a hard time long-form writers are really using that interface off the cuff? (Maybe totally wrong!!)

I saw the posts but no death threats

Definitely agree! Although I’m not sure anyone else has figured this out either. For ex, I used to be pretty active on Threads until I posted something vaguely body positive about pull-ups and gym bros spent days going after me.

Ultimately a lot of this is just that the internet is vile sometimes..

And to be clear Bluesky absolutely has a targeted bullying problem that needs to be addressed (through private profiles and better blocking imo), but I’m really skeptical it’s somehow worse than X or even than twitter of past-times
January 5, 2026 at 11:34 PM
I’ve still yet to see anything like that though. I’ve seen a lot of targeted harassment (which again is BAD don’t get me wrong), and then people say “they want me dead!!! They doxxed me!!” But then the screenshots are usually something like “guys get his ass”

I can’t find anything about this other than the aftermath. Can you elaborate? It seems like they got bullied (which sucks) but targeted bullying happens on all social media platforms, and it happens on Musk’s X app especially often

Apart from price I find the framing of it being for work and for “doing” quite strange. I think the market for these kinds of devices is people who want to disconnect and “do less” with their tech

Yes but not on this issue at all
