Here’s a slightly random one.

HotStreak with BodyWork from 1983.

Appeared out of nowhere, as far as I was concerned, and I was fascinated by it.

Had never heard music like it before and loved it. Bought the 12 inch single but I don’t appear to have it these days. Where did it go?

8 more tracks from #steelydan to go. Getting serious now. #ArtistFave15

I know my final 1 and 2, but the other 6 tracks are in no particular order.

So here’s Black Cow, the opening track from my favourite Steely Dan album, Aja.

“Drink your big black cow and get out of here!”

Thank you. Dad was a bit oblivious, to be honest, but I saw and heard it all. It’s all part of the “circle of life” but it’s still a shock when it happens.

He is getting better, thanks. Probably going to be in for a few more days. My Mum is enjoying the peace and quiet!

Although he died quickly, the medical staff then spent about 20 minutes trying to resuscitate him, so it was all a bit chaotic. He actually had a very peaceful and quick death. His poor daughter was utterly heartbroken when she arrived to collect his possessions. Very very sad.

I heard a man’s final words tonight. Visiting Dad in hospital, a lovely chap called Michael went for a short walk & was really struggling when he came back to the ward. He sat down, said “that was a dreadful mistake” and promptly passed away. To say it was quick is an understatement. RIP Michael. ❤️

We’ll see. They have a separate “members only presale” for big events such as this. If there are any general sale tickets, they will be right at the back with crap views. I can afford their annual membership fee but I refuse to pay it. I hate the idea of paying £50 just to “belong” to a music venue!

Behind closed doors all he does is sing Taylor Swift songs and weep.

Dave Prowse. My Dad went to school with him.

Just heard that Bristol is already sold out and they aren’t even on general sale until Friday. I get really annoyed with this. People who can afford the £50 annual fee to the Bristol Beacon then get to see all the good acts via pre-sale and the rest of us are excluded. Extremely bloody annoying.

Well done. I am going to try for a Bristol ticket but they aren’t on general sale until Friday. I’d like to see them but I’ll be “philosophical” if I’m not successful.

Kraftwerk are touring next year and ticket prices are rather interesting. £185 in Bristol but you are guaranteed a seat with a decent view, apparently.

Certainly one of the greatest opening lines ever.

Son, I’m 30. I only went with your mother cause she’s dirty.

Poetry.

Just voted for Bridget Phillipson for Deputy Leader of the Labour Party.

I am sure that this either makes me a socialist extremist or a right-wing puppet. Probably both.

Anyway, I hope Bridget wins - her heart is in the right place. She genuinely cares about helping the poorest among us.

And here’s the second #steelydan track for today’s #ArtistFave15.

Here’s another one that’s definitely going to get me cancelled, but I don’t care.

Everyone’s gone to the movies, now we’re alone at last. A song about illegal porn movies? 🤔

From Katy Lied (yes, she certainly did), in 1975.

Need to get back on track with #ArtistFave15. All went a bit Pete Tong on Monday so you can have two from #steelydan on Tuesday.

Here’s “Rikki don’t lose that number” from 1974’s Pretzel Logic album.

Great (and ambiguous) lyrics, fabulous musicianship, it’s the archetypal Steely Dan song!

Next up from me for #80sTop30 is the epic Waterfront (12” version) by Simple Minds from 1983. Always loved this.

Chosen because it also reminds me of the person I mentioned in my previous post. And now we’ll move on from her.

Come in, come out of the rain.

Didn’t do #80sTop30 on Monday because everything went pear shaped so here’s two for the price of one.

First up - The The with This is the Day from 1983. Not going to say much about this. It’s a great song and it reminds me of somebody and that’s all I’ll say.

Offensive waste. Waste that tells you are looking really old. Waste that tells you your dress sense is ridiculous. Waste that says “NOBODY listens to Steely Dan in 2025, you old fart”.

Very offensive waste.

Read that quickly as Tommy Robinson and was outraged but I have now realised my error and have calmed down. Happy birthday to yr Dad.

If I see Pete Astor again, I’ll go out of my way to say how much I enjoyed “Why does the rain” because that was recorded by both The Loft AND the Weather Prophets!
cruiserscreek.bsky.social
I agree, but when we saw The Loft earlier this year & we were lucky enough to have a quick chat with them afterwards, I said how much I loved Almost Prayed & Pete instantly said “that’s not a Loft song” which made me feel like a fool. Didn’t realise that we were ONLY allowed to discuss The Loft. 😡
