Yup! The idea that higher education should be bent around preparing us for a vocation instead of teaching us how to be good humans is frankly anathema to the humanities’ survival. We need art. We can’t thrive without it.

All I can say is, if I ever need a victim advocate, I would want them to possess the sort of empathy one receives through appreciation of and engagement with the humanities. Kinda hard to advocate for anyone without empathy!

not the first time I've talked about this, but babies and women's health were her career; they were her life. now, the deadliest nepo baby to ever walk into an office he has no business occupying is imperiling each, and using reasoning so bad that it would be preferable were it merely "dubious."
