My most recent finished book, this has been on my backlog for like 2 years I just finally got around to it.
(Joking that now I've read one trans girl and one trans guy memoir this pride month)

This movie!!! Watched twice this past weekend since it just came out. Best animated movie of the year hands down. Excellent animation, soundtrack, and casting.

This is actually a series I read as a kid but I never got past the first 2 books because they weren't published yet...

Excellent look at racial relations in America, especially from an Asian American pov (and more specifically the author being Korean American growing up in the 80s and living through events like the LA riots and having parents who escaped the Korean war)

Started this YA series, I thought it was fun, kind of felt like Percy Jackson but if they were Latino/Aztec inspired and also queer (the main boy is trans and there are many queer characters in the book)

I remember when this aired but I only just listened to it this past month. Love this season and I love that it's tied into the Fantasy High world

I haven't seen the TV show, but good look at fatphobia/misogyny in our culture, online, and in comedy

Heartfelt YA read, also ironically read this right before the ICE raids started here in LA.
This book is about a nonbinary amab teen/young adult artist and a guy they start dating who doesn't have immigrant status and them trying to navigate this and their relationship together

Excellent read, if you liked the movie Sinners you're gonna like this book. Honestly would not surprise me if Ryan Coogler got inspiration from this book

I have a backlog of random memoirs I always just have on my library app but haven't listened to one in a while, interesting to see Dylan's whole trans journey from a published written pov aside from just her og tiktoks

I read parable of the sower earlier this year and it's wild how close attention Octavia Butler paid to the political climate/world from the 90s to right something that feels like its becoming so relatable now

Naddpod just recently finished the mini arch they were on that Jake GM'd and I keep up with this show pretty much as it comes out probably one of my fave ttrpg shows

The cover kind of says it all but like I said before I like this author's books so I keep reading her catalog

YA sci Fi throw into the mix, it was fun and I like the way they classify princes in this and the world building of their systems

I've had this on my backlog for a long time, I do love poetry but I don't read a ton of poetry over all. This is a collection of poetry about life in Gaza under Isr occupation and the current attacks since Oct 2023.

I don't remember when I added this book to my library list but I borrowed it when it was available and it was a bitter sweet story (cw SA, but she moves home and falls in love with someone related to her rapist who is on her side)

I've read a couple books by this author over the years and she really does just cover everything you need to know about the history of America from a non-white/colonialist pov
June 24, 2025 at 7:26 PM
Another one for the Chicago wizard series
June 24, 2025 at 7:26 PM
Sometimes I really do just throw in old books/classics I've never read into my mix, I had seen the movie plenty of times as a child and even spin off media like Wicked (books/musical/movie) but never read the OG book until now
June 24, 2025 at 7:25 PM
Sequel book to one I read earlier, funny since I also just read Mickey 7 and both are like sci-fi clone/space exploration type books and the ethics of doing that

I finished this D20 season I think at the end of April right before I moved
June 24, 2025 at 7:21 PM
I think I did read this comic sometime a long time ago but I forget so I did read it at the start of May
June 24, 2025 at 7:20 PM
This series is kinda silly/cheesy the more you get into it but I'm having fun since this is like the 4th? book in the series.

Really good look into how American evangelicalism evolved into what it is today and how it's ties and history with white supremacy has lead to our current political climate
