I can’t imagine how frustrating it must be to be any kind of science communicator right now.
Important thread here. As a former Floridian, “uh, we kinda need hurricane warnings” is the thing most of my friends can immediately understand, but there’s so much more involved. (Also, who will bring me videos of octopuses doing weird stuff if not NOAA??)
I worry that the focus on NOAA's weather predicting value is ignoring the millions of other ways NOAA researchers enrich communities and local economies.
There are no oysters without NOAA. There are no blue crabs without NOAA. NOAA trains teachers. NOAA is the lifeblood of coastal communities.
