It is Banned Books Week.

The Bluest Eye was my first novel by Toni Morrison. It is beat up and the pages are yellow but still one of my all time favorites.

I just said nonfiction was my favorite but this novel right here left me speechless.

I like my characters messy with a lot of twists and turns. Dominion exceeded those expectations. And Addie E. Citchens wraps it up in under 250 pages.

I started listening to No More Tears yesterday🤬

Don’t let the number of hours keep you away. It is clear, concise, and the author does a good job of keeping you engaged. I did take a break because I felt myself getting so angry.

This gem arrived a couple of weeks ago but I am just now reading it. I am looking forward to learning more about Toni Morrison (from Lorain, Ohio) as an editor. I am also exited that Libby had the ebook available so I have more options. Libraries are important.

I finished Challenger and thought I needed to read a less intense story. Well, Isaac is keeping me on my toes and he just had be pulling out a pencil with my copy of The Fire Next Time by James Baldwin. I am having a good time.

Apparently it is now March and March is Social Work Month.

Social work is not about being nice but is much more than perpetuating harm on children and families.

All social work should be rooted in advocacy, social justice, and political action.

Ohio SB 1, the new version of the Higher Education Destruction Act (SB 83 from the 135th GA) is moving quickly with a hearing scheduled for February 11, 2025, at 11 am. If passed, the restrictions on diversity, equity, and inclusion content could result in Ohio social work programs losing CSWE accreditation and thus preventing their graduates from getting licensed. Facebooks and Instagram blurring, blocking, and deleting posts of abortion pill providers. Lawmakers in GOP-led states are pursuing bills that would treat abortion as homicide. In Mississippi, a state senator introduced “Contraception Begins At Erection Act” a bill that would make it unlawful for a person to discharge genetic material without the intent to fertilize an embryo. Nobody seems to now who’s in charge of the CDC. United Healthcare has a new CEO. The World Health Organization is planning to cut costs and reprioritize after US withdrawal.
