I hate how common this exact thing is in queer circles. I have had this exact sequence of events happen twice. Once with an ex GF that continued to be one of my best friends for years. And another with a coworker that i helped with their transition early on. Its always really hard.

Thanks for calling this out. In all my time doing retail, it wasn't always busier but hoooo boy it sure was nastier. Black friday usually was the day that people were out because "its what you do". Saturday before were all the people stressed out and usually looking for someone to take it out on.

I think to a degree. These were all the pinnacle of the medium at their respective times. So they were always a spectacle. Now, not so much. They are still great, just im sure the impact is less

100%. Tone and context this can be the best way to say "im not into this but your joy is wonderful and i am happy for you" in a quick moment. When given time to let my words breathe i will express myself more eloquently. But sometimes you need something short and to the point.
