We must remove the policy, financial and grid constraints that are throttling growth, while protecting #CommunityEnergy's unique social mission.

We’re grateful to @commenergyengland.bsky.social for providing this report, and to everyone who responds and contributes.

It's essential evidence.

The fact that hundreds of community groups are branching into heat, transport and #EnergyEfficiency, and reinvesting £24.5 million locally, shows the breadth of what #CommunityEnergy can do.🔌⚡

But scaling won’t happen by default...

So far in 2025, the UK has met electricity demand with 100% clean energy for 50x longer than in 2021, and 2x as long as 2024. 🎉

This dispels myths that the country can’t be powered by #Renewables and shows great steps towards a clean energy system. 👣

Let's keep up the pace!

The Local Power Plan aims for 95% renewable generation by 2030. There are enough renewable energy schemes in the queue to meet this target, but grid capacity issues are causing delays.

It's important to fast-track key impactful projects, without leaving smaller #CommunityEnergy work behind.

After years of the 𝐚𝐝𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 of renewables, it seems we are moving to a genuine 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 as #Renewables were responsible for over 50% of energy generation in 2024 and fossil fuels reached a new low of 31.8%. 🔌⚡

The government's proposed changes to the Decent Homes Standard are a significant step forward – but they could go further.

Climate adaptation isn't covered. Tenants need protection from heatwaves as well as cold winters. And we need to see changes in place by 2030.
