The difference for many voters is that ARod and Manny tested positive and were suspended by the league

Did you see where I said “that may be the case in some instances”? Canseco may be one of those instances for some voters

I've seen many comments from you with your "nice guy" theory, and that may be the case in some instances, but many voters, both actual and amateur (i.e. us fans who don't have a vote) draw a line between voting for pre-testing PED users and those who were later suspended after testing positive.

Pettitte’s known HGH usage was prior to it being banned by MLB. After it was added to the banned list, A-Rod and Manny both tested positive and were suspended by the league. It has nothing to do with being a nice guy. Manny’s friendly, no? And both he and A-Rod are much more popular than Pettitte.

My kids (13 and 8) and I listen to that song every time we go to the car wash, so the employees there certainly may, and hopefully do, know it as well. If they’re really good, they also know the Springsteen song of the same name! 🚗🛀

I see what you did there

Understood. We all have different views on what a Hall of Fame should or should not be. Based on you thinking that both the hockey and basketball Halls of Fame do a better job with their inductees, I assume that you think that the Baseball HoF should be inducting many more people (teams?) each year
December 11, 2025 at 5:09 PM
Do mean that they do a better job with their inductees, or with the contents of the museum itself?
December 10, 2025 at 7:57 PM
Will you please explain why you feel this way? Is there another sports Hall of Fame that you think is better? If so, why?

Live in New York City - I was at the two shows where that was filmed! I’m still hoarse from shouting along to that completely unexpected Lost in the Flood 🎸

I have that complete set signed by everyone who alive when they were released except for Ted Williams. They’re great looking cards with some wonderful photos.

There they are! Great find - thanks! And a memory of a different time and a different ticket-buying experience

I love this! I still have a week of clipped FoxTrot comics from (I think) ‘93 where Peter built a Shrine o’ Bruce in order to bring him luck when he was trying to get Springsteen concert tickets. When things didn’t work out, Jason hit him with “I’m going down to Unlucky Town”. FoxTrot + Bruce = ❤️

Love this, but there had to have been non-lip sycnhed videos on MTV before this, no? What about @brucespringsteen.net’s Brilliant Disguise?

What makes this even more remarkable is that Mr. Appling hit only 45 home run in 2,422 career MLB games

Yes please! I was just at the Rock Hall 2 weeks ago, and they have a monitor setup where fans can make suggestions for who should be on the next ballot. I entered @alyankovic.bsky.social (should have also done @loslobos.org), and was thrilled to see that he had the 3rd most “votes”, so others agree!

Can there be a science portion included as well?

I was fortunate to see you both perform at the same show- the George Harrison tribute concert Georgefest in LA in 2014. Two legends (among many others) honoring another legend. My condolences on the loss of your friend ❤️

A legend by any definition. Happy Birthday Smokey!

I’m glad I was able to experience his brilliance in person with my daughter a few years ago. He’s still got it.

So many cars here in California (mostly higher-end cars, from my observation) without front plates, with dangerously tinted windows (if I can’t see you, then I don’t know if you see me), and even tinted shields on the back plates, making it difficult/impossible to read the plates.

I was in 5th grade. Principal came in to the gym/cafeteria and announced that there has been an incident involving the space shuttle. A younger student, maybe 2nd grade, asked me what that was about. “I’m sure everything is okay.” We’d soon learn otherwise.

Surprised to see that in addition to his 20 gained votes, Utley also has 6 drops. Wagner, Rollins, and Buehrle are the only ones without any drops (though I’m sure that by typing that I just jinxed it for them)
January 20, 2025 at 8:38 PM
I know that this happens, and understand the reasoning, but rather than giving Ichiro’s vote to player x, they can instead not vote for any other number of players for whom their one vote doesn’t mean much (like CC or anyone in the 20-50% range) and support the fun narrative of him reaching 100%

Bobby Grich, Lou Whitaker, Andruw Jones, and Curt Schilling
