The Milky Way core stretching up from the SW horizon over a lone figure (me) in a pool of light on Shropshire's Long Mynd. The aqua-green and reddish tones are airglow, a phenomenon caused by excited oxygen atoms in the atmosphere

Pinkish-red pillars of aurora borealis emerging from the light pollution of mid Shropshire as viewed from the Long Mynd last night

The view the other way. Andromeda and the Pleiades over the trees. The NE end of the Milky Way is hard to capture in Shropshire due to excessive light pollution from Telford, Wolverhampton and beyond. But with a bit of helpful screening, it can be done
