Just a little background, if you don’t know my work… ‘When Beasts Spoke’ is a collection of illustrated thoughts from the animal’s perspective. Contemplations on anything from mindfulness, self-love, or gratitude, to observations on the little things and the joys of nature. And I paint the animals ☺️
Hare found herself lost in the enchantment of her favourite things; meadow gold, crispy seeds, gentle barley fields.
She often found time just to sit and to be.
After all, nothing was more important than being, and nothing more enchanting than being with your favourite things.

She closed her eyes to find herself,
Feel the hum of the sky and hush of the meadow.
She closed her eyes to see,
To sit with her wild, to breathe in her nature.
And in the quiet she remembered,
Perhaps she’d never forgotten
This beautiful longing within.
There all the time, just hidden.

#NationalBadgerDay!

Badger loved to gaze into a moonlit night,
Seeing what he could see in low dancing light.

One glance wasn't enough to take it all in,
And to truly see what was hidden within.

With patience, he studied each shadow, each hue,
And saw more with his heart than his eyes ever knew.

Crow sat and watched the first leaf fall. Autumn had arrived.
He thought how wonderful it was of the trees to give up their fading leaves, and even their golden ones.
The trees knew when it was time to let go.
So did he, he thought.
How beautiful it was to let things go.

🍂🐾Poppy reminding me of the joys of autumn on our rather windy walk today. Had been a rubbish day with broken bits in my little garden, Andy stuck in Liverpool after a diverted flight and Poppy scared of all the loud noises. So, this felt nice🐾🍁

Harvest Mouse had found her kindred spirits - little souls with curious hearts and gentle paws.
Like her, they loved sharing their joy.
They taught each other how to wobble in the wind, how to tumble in style and how to find the best perch to watch this delightful world go by.

Harvest Mouse fact #2: Despite their tiny size (weighing less than a 2p coin), harvest mice are expert climbers. Their prehensile tails act like an extra hand, helping them grip and balance as they move through the grasses.

Harvest Mouse fact #1: Harvest mice weave intricate spherical nests out of grasses, suspended among tall stems. These aerial homes, hidden in meadows and reedbeds, are unique among British mammals.

Small but full of character, painting a harvest mouse is always a delight. Their fine whiskers and inquisitive eyes hold so much life in such a tiny form. Each brushstroke feels like a balancing act – capturing not just their likeness but also their lively, acrobatic spirit.

Brush with the Wild | Harvest Mouse
Meet Harvest Mouse -our tiny wild neighbour, as light as a whisper. With bright eyes and a tail that works as a balancing pole, they scamper and sway through tall grasses as if the meadow were made for them. A playful soul; a reminder to explore and have fun.
