in the future there will hopefully be a lot of legal precedent establishing that "actually the chatbot did it" is not a workable legal defense but i fear we have a lot of silly, silly ground to cover until we get there

Arguably that should be the first law we pass with regards to machine learning, a company be able to produce a record of all data that was used to train their model as part of legal discovery, if they can’t produce that data than they are sanctioned accordingly
