Deloitte seems to think that new generation probably falls by 50% in the next year but that battery capacity probably builds out, and there's other reporting that it seems like the Admin suddenly realized that they need to do things to encourage battery production stateside.

I mean the current opinion people have on the economy right now is that it's hot dogshit despite all the charts that ~~Sleepy Joe Biden~~ Emperor Trump has been posting insisting otherwise
December 23, 2025 at 5:01 PM
We wouldn't see an actual drop until 2026 or 2027, yeah, because of the lag inherent to this kind of investment?
December 23, 2025 at 4:00 PM
Didn't the NYT do just that and the person in question say just that?
December 20, 2025 at 2:23 PM
Trump, despite noodling the controls, hasn't actually pulled America off the course of "soft landing"? That's actually kind of impressive

That's not true according to OpenSecrets: they're top four and individual donations make up the brunt of Geo Group affiliated donations (i can't see any breakdowns beyond that) but an Israeli PAC, a trucking company, and a Dem Pac were bigger donors through 2024.

There's reaction against science from marginalized groups as well. African Americans, especially african American women, have an elevated distrust and antipathy against scientific institutions because of a history of discrimination and mistreatment. "My way or highway" w/ them is highly problematic

The ones who are most like that I suspect will become hardline reactionary conservative voters by the time they hit their 40s despite claiming to be insurgent leftists and nothing will convince me otherwise.

My key issue as a dude is that I don't know where/how to meet women interested in dating. I know in the past where I'm from men kinda just hit on women randomly but that's annoying and bad, but like a singles mingling zone where there's consent would be nice.

my state school is apparently 58% women already as of most recent admissions statistics.

If you're serious i think there's plenty of optimism to be had still about the failure to consolidate and glhm has been one of the biggest optimists left on the site.

I hope they both lose

I've heard the commentary about the Indians in Brampton from Canada, the permission structure's getting built out at the very least over there
December 5, 2025 at 5:04 PM
I think it blueshifts the suburbs harder though as a result because the people who value that move there.
December 5, 2025 at 5:02 PM
I can believe that they're crass and elitist enough to hate rural people, but I do also think it's still out there enough to flash "PULL UP ALTITUDE" to your plane.
December 5, 2025 at 5:01 PM
yeah but not even billionares like actually living in those refuges, they'd kill each other then themselves out of boredom.
December 5, 2025 at 4:58 PM
Probably kill VRA and hope that the red states eke more out than blue states can
December 4, 2025 at 11:24 PM
One thing I wonder: There's reporting that the net job cuts in 2025 is over 1 million but there hasn't been much movement on the unemployment or labor force participation ratio to my knowledge; i wonder what squares that circle?
December 4, 2025 at 5:47 PM
most of the airlines and luxury good companies have been saying their high end offerings have been driving growth this year, right? that's also countervailing to the "rich people are trading down" narrative
December 4, 2025 at 4:53 PM
> More evidence of a supply-driven jobs backdrop not a demand-driven one.

I'm guessing it's not very evenly distributed though? All my white collar friends out of work have been having a hell of a time.

That wiki article is stale now, it's now more like an R+9 for today's election
December 3, 2025 at 4:10 AM
