The bit missing is that contradiction between Rand and the workerist subsidies and protections for US (white, male) jobs. Each undermines the other. One representing donors and the other voters.

Is he inviting the Op Ed to criticise the current administration? There's plenty of evidence of civil liberty being attacked, protectionism and grift distorting the market. I look forward to reading about it in the WP.

I think you can be certain that it's an understatement of the reality for many small businesses. Others may not have stopped, but will have redirected their sales and marketing to domestic or markets with lower cost of compliance.

Shopping habits suggest that Labour is still more working class than portrayed. Visible London Labour supporters might shop in Waitrose, but across the country is a different picture.
