The elementary school my nephews go to will lose most of its funding since it is a Title 1 (low income) school and is primarily funded by the Dept of Edu. They can’t “make up” 4 years of no funding.

My partner’s student loans won’t be forgiven after 10 years of public service if there’s no Dept of Education. Thousands of doctors, nurses, lawyers etc who chose lower pay for public good will be impacted

I bring little Advil packets to funerals for this exact reason and people are always so relieved when I offer them. Post-cry headaches are the worst. Salt in the wound.

I literally grew up in the US South in a county where not everyone had indoor plumbing in the ‘90s, our schools couldn’t afford toilet paper, and you still can’t get internet at many houses to this day. Yet that (mostly white) county goes HARD red. I’ll never comprehend the denial it takes.
