consider myself fortunate that my parents are in their mid 80s and still active… but boy do I have a brief moment of panic every time I get an unexpected all from one of them.
Those surprise calls are nearly always about PC or car trouble, but one day it won’t, so a Stranger Things vent is a win!

IRFU seems to manage the provinces pretty well, long may all 4 continue. Wonder if Scottish Rugby regrets closing the Reivers? The God stuff was a surprise, felt like an American Football interview. Never got the faith thing but he was on fire last night and it’s as plausible an explanation as luck.

Agreed! Forgot his media training and was just so excited.
Can't recall which podcast it was (Irish interview with a former WRU high-up) that pointed out 10 years ago the IRFU seriously considered scrapping Connacht.
They won the Pro12, supplied 3 lions, and build a new stand. Take note WRU!

Woah! I assumed a privatised UK train operator got their in-train display boards screwed up, entirely plausible, and funny.
Was genuinely surprised when your train moved past the station sign and I realised that was a London Tube train in Germany (in hindsight, it did look unusually clean).

Dragons did play very well. In his post match interview Dyer seemed to be ecstatic, the Welsh teams seem to have a spark they’ve missed earlier in the season.
Have high hopes for Lancaster, he underperformed at England and Racing, but really clicked at Leinster and I‘m hoping Galway will be the same

That still seems like useful info… but working that out may be more distracting than the actual fog.

Watching with increasing disbelief and frustration.
Dragons had scored 3 points in their first 6 games. Picked up 5 last night. What is going on in Galway?
Sorry about Friday (like I had anything to do with it), but for the longest time I thought you were about to get that Dublin victory.

Not as easy to use as London Buses (a single fare for all journeys makes things so easy on so many levels) but the LEAP card (very similar to London's Oyster card) has made things better.
But you're right, being able to use a phone or debit card would be better.

In 1991 Denmark and Sweden agreed to build a link across the Øresund strait between Copenhagen & Malmö.
8 years later construction was completed on a combined road and rail link with an 8km suspension bridge and 4km tunnel (+ a new island named pepper holm to complement its neighbouring salt holm)

I only installed 26.2 yesterday evening, and I'm not convinced battery life is back to what I was getting last week, but at the moment it seems better. At the moment.
December 17, 2025 at 3:00 PM
I've seen a drop in battery life.
Pre iOS 26 with my 15 Pro Max I'd need 60% charge to last about 40 hours. I limit charging to 80%, and an overnight charge last two days (I'm not a heavy phone user).
Post update I'm having to charge every night.
Check you're running 26.2, I think that helped

Delivered by the Irish postal service to Buncrana, a town of about 7,000 people.

One of the depressing aspects of this is that Australia already enacted stricter gun control after the 1996 Port Arthur massacre (but that's still decades apart, not days)
Worth noting that despite what some US groups claim, one of the ways to stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy WITHOUT a gun

I don't understand the base issue here. EU compliant cars for the RoI, and UK compliant cars (as opposed to British, as we're talking about NI) for the UK are manufactured in the same factories. Are UK standards that different from EU? Why can't cars designed for the RoI be sold in NI?

Ulster were starting to wobble a bit, but that deliberate knock on with 8 minutes left was a turning point.
That loss hurts even me.
December 13, 2025 at 10:01 PM
Bugger!
December 13, 2025 at 9:48 PM
Ulster! You're killing me!
8 minutes left, down 2 men leading by 7, and defending a penalty on the 5 meter line.

The Nordie accent isn't that bad, not for a man from the North (side of Dublin).
December 13, 2025 at 9:25 PM
Ahh.. see you problem. Laptop makes it easy... just like Kok going over for his 2nd, and Ulster's 4th.
This game has got a lot more interesting
December 13, 2025 at 9:24 PM
I can understand it... make of that what you will!
December 13, 2025 at 8:55 PM
Well... that looks better than it did at 12-0!
December 13, 2025 at 8:51 PM
If it helps, I have the S4C coverage on iPlayer, and the Ulster Radio commentary from the BBC sports live coverage. Radio is ahead of video, but judicious use of the pause button gets you both synced up
December 13, 2025 at 8:50 PM
watching Connacht on one screen, Ulster on the other... but the last 15 minutes of the Ulster game have been good. Connacht have run away with it by half time.

My local council converted a car park space across the road from me to dedicated cargo bike parking.
It’s used by normal bikes most of the time, but I was genuinely surprised to see an actual cargo bike parked there less than 5 days after the space was completed.
