Is a product actually considered open source if the sources aren't open?
No schematic, or board file, or even gerbers... It just doesn't sound like open *source* to me.
If they are "planning" to release... Then this isn't actually (yet) "open source" at a headline level...

Oh absolutely not. Just to be clear, in case anyone ever sees such a cable - this is a very dangerous thing to do.
The safety rating of your handheld DMM, and therefore *your* safety, rely on the fact there is no path to ground.
