More practice with alcohol markers. I'm getting there. What I'm realising is you really need to blend colours that are very similar. Which is why you can buy them in sets of 200 for a million pounds.

Also the paler, more transparent colours are much more useful than the darker ones.

I drew these in my rubbish sketchbook because I didn't know how well I'd do, and didn't want to waste a page of my *good* (empty) sketchbook. But I think I kind of nailed it.

The top down view could be better but the other 2 I'm quite pleased with.

I went with a light grey brush pen. It looked too flat with just the gold, but the black fineliner was too harsh. This is a good balance I think.

Another experiment with the Graphitint watercolours. I can't decide whether I prefer the gold cracks with or without the black fineliner outlining them.

I can also recommend the #GameChanger style pride pins. I've got a matching sticker on my water bottle too.

I decided to paint one of @roseschmits.bsky.social's tentacle pots.

Derwent Graphitint watercolours and fineliner on A5 paper.

This didn't come out as well as I hoped. But it was practice for blending with alcohol markers and I learned a bit from it.

I don't like the thickness of the cracks. They don't look natural.

I'm trying the same graphite water colours as yesterday on some black paper.

I did some swatches earlier and they do show up when dry.

But painting with them is very hard because the wet pigments and wet paper just look black so you just kind of have to hope for the best.

I got these water colours in an art subscription box in 2020, and played around with them once at the time, but that's it. I decided to have another go with them.

Water colours are not usually my thing, but enjoyed this.

Amazing start to my new journal. Phenomenal. Perfect. 10/10

@jontyscorner.bsky.social it seems it was in fact not just me.

Oink oink mother fucker

Of course I got the one that everyone uses wrong now, and is annoying with.

This Echiveria is already getting ready to flower, which is quite early I think. It will probably grow a good foot or so more before it actually blooms.

I have 2 of these plants and last year the other one flowered, so it seems they are taking it in turns.

I am captain of the watch. A tough job for someone who doesn't drink.

Micro Machines feels Christmassy. I'm pretty sure I got it for christmas one year and presumably spent all day playing it, because why would you do anything else?

Mmmmm purple...

Popped down to the little Morrisons to pick up a couple of bits, and saw they had a little stand of sorry looking plants. So I rescued this little succulent. Some kind of echeveria (Draco? Maybe a satellite?) Looking a bit sad and dehydrated, but I'm sure some natural light and water will perk it up

I think I'm going to read Babs Tarr's Motor Crush next, which has been on my shelf for a while.

Sci-fi professional bike racing with a side of illegal street racing. Seems like my kind of thing.

One more for today.

'The Spell' by Cellar Darling.

Melodic metal featuring some hurdy gurdy - what's not to like?
December 8, 2025 at 8:14 PM
Birdeatsbaby (formerly) and Crimson Veil (presently)

A band that has changed their name due to a shift in style over the years, from dark cabaret to prog metal?

Birdeatsbaby baby have been in my regular rotation for a few years now I think. Hex by Crimson Veil was new last year.

Mishkin Fitzgerald, Hana Piranha, and Hviress.

These are grouped together because they're close collaborators.

Lots of piano, strings, guitars, syths. I'm not good with genres...

Bitchhouse by Hviress came out this year and *might* be the only 2025 album I bought, but it's a good'un!
