It’s funny because purple rain definitely fits the bill but I would almost argue the movie has the opposite problem, where the songs that are supposed to be unpopular songs in the movie universe are far to good

They understand that the main thing they can offer is entertainment, looked at sport notoriously prone to boredom and found ways to make it exciting. I get the draw of going to a live event that above all else wants you to leave entertained
