Scryed was a lot of dumb fun and I think the two dudes have a good dynamic, which is both very toxic masculinity and very gay.

Some episode gimmicks are pretty clever but yes, it isn't smart as a whole.

I'd say nothing in fiction is truly original if you dig enough, so that sort of discussion point always leads to a dead-end for me. More importantly, people aren't obligated to watch anime in any particular order. Not even chronologically. Say, there's a ton of recent shows I've never seen.

It's a fun show. Even if you may always not get as much out of it as others did, because mileage may vary, I can certainly tell you that with confidence.

I can appreciate they are willing to replace those parts, but I guess it's up to each person to decide if that commitment is enough.

For instance, Oda even drew a bunch of stuff about Uta's past with Shanks and so on. Presumably the basics still happened in the manga, roughly speaking, but since the movie plot itself never took place...she's unlikely to ever show up in the main story, unless Oda decides to give her a cameo.

No One Piece movie has been canon, at least so far, yet since Oda himself is usually involved in revising the scripts and supervising the films, he gets to include pieces of canon info.

Then again, I think canonicity is overrated as a concept in terms of media enjoyment, but that's just me.

It came across as far too abstract and not specific enough to refer to anyone in particular, in my recollection, but I could be wrong. Very much like "fake country in a video game" energy.

Most of those have answers if approached calmly and with hindsight (harder than it sounds) plus whether something matters enough is often relative, but I know that is how many felt. These days I'd say the pacing was a double-edged sword and not great, yet the themes still fall into place eventually.
