I am a knitter and sewer interested in sustainability and shopping vintage 💖
This time I shortened a cardigan (see original length 3rd pic - I initially lengthened it a lot). This is the Rosa cardigan knit with BWM 8ply Luxury. Don’t know why middle photo is grey 🤷‍♀️ Now I can wear it with dresses and high waisted pants!

Finally finished my Salal cardigan out of Plucky Knitter Primo Worsted. This was in another cardigan which was too long to wear with the current style, so I frogged it and made this anew. It was a lovely project all the way through! The green is very bright. #knitting #knitsky

I taught my 4 year old daughter how to draw a dragon so she drew herself as a dragon. It’s got angry eyebrows. Check out its majesty. #trogdor #dragon

I love my new art piece by my friend Chris. It’s based on how book covers fade in the sun when covered with a bookend. It’s shades of green but my light is red #art

Vintage McCall’s corduroy pants finished! These were pretty straightforward to make, except the waistband weirdly didn’t fit so I had to sew on an extra couple of cm. The blouse is a contemporary mccalls pattern I made 12 years ago! #sewing #imakemyclothes

#yarn so nice I’m #knitting it thrice!
This is the way with me and my knitting. Third time is always the charm.
I chose the wrong size, as usual, and am now knitting it again, on smaller needles, in a larger size, to achieve the goldilocks cardigan. This will be the Salal cardigan… eventually.

#placesyoucanknit at the coast for the long weekend, kids asleep, reading some Georgette Heyer and working on my Salal cardigan. I’d forgotten that this yarn is 20% cashmere! What a delight! #knitting #knitsky

I’ve sewed these pants except for the waistband and hems. They fit so well! I can’t wait to rock these! #sewing #imakemyclothes

My sewing project for today and tomorrow - these 1970s trousers in a bright rust orange pinwale corduroy. There are only 4 different pattern pieces - back, front, waistband and pocket! Love the simplicity. #sewing

I made this jacket for my husband out of some beautiful heavy weight cotton twill I found in an op shop. It’s a beautiful pattern, the pockets are cool as they are 2-in-1 with a side and top opening. It’s a relatively simple construction with flat felled seams. Jamie Jacket by the Modern Sewing Co.

#placesyoucanknit in my backyard watching my little girl ride up and down the driveway. I am making a bottom-up cardigan for my mum, it’s been frogged once due to being a size too big. Second time’s a charm? #knitting #knitsky

Frogging an old cardigan (much loved in the past but not in my current style) to make a new cardigan! #knitting #knitsky #yarn

Veggie patch cardigan finished for my daughter. I did lacy increases and no moss stitch. Yarn is my own hand dyed. She is very happy but busy watching a movie so couldn’t possible wear it right now. #knitting #knitsky #cardigan

Special milestone today! Please note all the King’s horses and all the King’s men. Thank goodness his birthday is around Easter ☺️

Finished this Anders jumper for my little boy on a school trip today. It’s not blocked but the ends are woven in! He’s turning 2 and this will fit him for a few years!

Are there any productivity books written by mums? Are they all by chaps with wives or non-mums?

I’m making a cardigan for my daughter. The yarn is my own hand dyed 8ply, I am using 2 skeins of speckled and 1 of a tonal pink in alternating rows - you can’t tell the difference. The pattern is again a Frankenpattern of the Rosa and the Veggie Patch. #knitting #knitsky

A spot of knitting while the kids run around and around the play couch mattresses. I am using Bendigo Woollen Mills Luxury 8ply in Cerise, knitting a cardigan for my mum. Pattern is a Frankenpattern of an early 2000s Patons pattern with the stitch pattern of my recent jumper. #knitting #knitsky

Made a little baby cardigan for a colleague’s baby due in April. The pattern is Veggie Patch and yarn is Patons Bluebell. It’s a tiny bit rougher than “baby” yarn but I think it’s ok?? I hope??

Every so often (like once every year or so) I get a PayPal notification saying I’ve been paid $5, and it’s from someone buying one of my patterns on Ravelry. I’ve sold two copies of the Watson blanket this month! I’ve only sold 10 in about 10 years 😂

This is a vintage 1970s pattern I knit using Great Ocean Road Woollen Mills yarn in a wool/alpaca blend.
The thing about these vintage seamed patterns is you can’t tell if it’s going to fit right until the last stitch! This didn’t come together until the neck band. It’s perfect 💖
