I’m not here to say “don’t be concerned” and the season % is under 70%… but they had just come off of 83% shooting from the line on a whopping 36 attempts vs Northwestern.

Most of the guys who get fouled a lot are pretty solid there.

Absolutely and I agree that there appears to be a real role for Eli

The other element I haven’t really touched on is I love Tillis’s range and passing but I think some of that mid post slow back down game won’t be as effective stepping up a level in play - and he also puts greater pressure on your team rebounding.

Great change of pace depth for short spurts though.

We’re great defenders but we needed the offense then it’s easier to lean into a Tillis at this level; but we’ll already be a superior offensive team.

Plus, with TDR, there’s no NEED to compromise because he’s good on both ends.

I think so… but I also think Tillis is the worst defender of any of the 10 I’m projecting for minutes so it would have been a concern either way.

UC Irvine had a 7 footer who helped him around the rim A LOT which also pulled him out of position from his own man a lot.

That reads harsh so sanitize it… but it’s true. I have concerns about his defensive limitations anyway. I do think it will strain our Centers when he’s on the floor, put them at bigger risk of picking up fouls, and he struggles to defend on the perimeter.

But it’s also that he just has TDR in front

I see Tillis as pure opportunity cost for De Ridder.

He shouldn’t play the three, De Ridder shouldn’t play the five.

So, while there are things to like about how Tillis plays - I want as many TDR minutes as he’s fresh enough to play as he’s a far superior player on both ends.
