The Dead Mother, by Edvard Munch, has a particularly haunting reputation. Previous owners report the eyes of the child following them and the sound of whispers and rustling sheets coming from the painting. Sometimes the girl even disappears from the canvas altogether... 👻

The Illustrated London News publishes a tale on the 9th of Feb 1856, claiming men working on a railway tunnel in France broke open a boulder of Jurassic limestone only to see a living Pterosaur stumble out, croak, and collapse dead at their feet!

For decades, until 2010, someone appeared at Edgar Allan Poe's grave in Baltimore before dawn on Jan. 19, his birthday.

The mysterious visitor (aka The Poe Toaster), who was never identified, would leave behind three roses & a half-filled bottle of cognac as a tribute to the writer

The castle of Düsseldorf is said to be haunted by a white lady. According to legend, a duchess named Jakobine & her lover were murdered by her jealous husband. Her ghost was alleged to be seen before a series of fires which plagued the castle.
