But, like... How was this surprising to people in a Babbages in 1990? The store would've been divided into a dozen sections of completely incompatible software. You can't play your Nintendo "tapes" on a Commodore 64.

RAM usually isn't a huge deal when it comes to 2600 graphics, because your sprites and playfields are typically in ROM, which can be used directly without needing to load it in RAM.
