Many of the political tensions in the 1930s seem similar to today. I especially found it interesting how immigrants were accused of taking American jobs and New Deal (federal) programs were labelled Socialist.

She was a close advisor to FDR, fought for fire safety, child labor laws, a 40-hour work week, unemployment insurance, workman’s comp, and the creation of social security… all while mired in a difficult family life.
