My paternal family tends to just ... lose their fingerprints over time. Mine have definitely faded, but some of my cousins have none at all.

We do a chicken tortilla soup that I've swapped to vegetarian occasionally:

good veggie broth, white beans, rice, can of diced tomatoes, fresh cilantro. Cook everything but cilantro for 30ish minutes; add cilantro for last 5.

Avocado/cheese/crumbled tortilla chips for toppings after it's done.

I stick firmly to the traditions of my people: black eyed peas for luck and collards for wealth.

And slipped into our luggage, undetected by my parent, enough cash to pay for bus tickets home.

We'd gotten maybe a hundred yards down the highway when an actual Traveling Salesman stopped to see if we needed help.

We gratefully accepted his offer of a lift to the nearest exit. Then he hung around to make sure the local garage could help us, paid for our lunch...

I also think that one of the first steps towards fixing many problems in the U.S. (and elsewhere) is "Make all Billionaires into Millionaires" and that's a hard pill to swallow if you are the kind of person to make it to Billionaire status.

Yeah; the calcification when your only contact with people happens above a certain wealth threshold is uniquely awful. (And it's not that high a threshold.) If someone isn't actively working to have a broad friend group, it's ... bad. (Thank you, Elite Private School for these insights!)
