Hey, I'm cynic. I'm a furry game dev who streams on twitch. I have an (unhealthy) obsession with VR but also love to play other games. I also love to mess around with technology both physical and digital.

Ngl with the speed of the gif it kinda looks like he is having a panic attack and breathing into the package lol, really nice art though

that second part isn't even correct technically, all that a https connection ensures is that the data between the two parties is secure (that is what the s stands for), it does not guarantee that you are talking to who you think you're talking to.

a .com domain can be bought and operated by anyone so credible sources are something that are missing in that case and they would need to be provided
November 23, 2025 at 6:57 PM
yeah because it is less credible, but that doesn't say anything about security. .gov sites are only given out to specific government organizations (likely the reason why your original site doesn't have it is because it doesn't qualify) so you know that the information from there is legit

for a .gov site there are minimal guidelines that need to be followed security wise but all of those guidelines just dictate standard security measures that anyone can implement. the problem is that .gov sites will implement that bare minimum and nothing less

still not how DNS works, different sites can point to the same server, and realistically tesla servers have better security than government sites because they are actually a tech company and know how to secure things (although this is still elon we're talking about)
November 23, 2025 at 6:55 PM
A server that hosts the website and the domain name of the website are 2 completely different systems that do not interact with eachother. and wether a website uses .gov or .com doesn't automatically increase the level of security (beyond the promise of it being "legit")
November 23, 2025 at 6:02 PM
not to be that guy but that isn't how TLD's work, the only reason why a .gov is "more secure" is because people know it is owned by a government, the underlying infrastructure has the exact same security options as any other domain.
