Still libraries, websites, Ann Arbor politics, college sports (mostly Virginia and Michigan with a newly-added parental interest in Nebraska). You know, the usual. XML alchemist.
Doomscrolling won’t do anything to change that situation though. And we all still need groceries and clean laundry and fresh air.

They’ve been not bad for a couple of years. Watched them beat us at Crisler to spoil senior day in 2024. My son was home for break (from Nebraska, ironically).

I did the "double instead of half" with bitters in a batch of Manhattans. They certainly had an edge. Maybe it is a common error?

Completely lost faith in Jeopardy’s authority now

Would this also apply to infamous?

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery

Disappointing, really. Though it does take me back to being 15 or so and coming around to the “how do we know we’re not already dead?” concept one very bored afternoon in English class.

At least you were there!

Team TJ snack dinner!
December 31, 2025 at 4:01 PM
Snack dinner tonight — basically dips and Trader Joe’s finest freezer selections (which is what we’ve been doing since we’ve had kids). Tomorrow it’s hopping john, rice, kale, pumpkin pie. Maybe cornbread. My mother would roll right out of her grave and haunt us otherwise.

That’s definitely enough work on your birthday. Have a good one!

I was a big planner person in undergrad and grad school. A couple years ago I bought a planner again and it seemed to take. This year I bought one and it definitely did not. Maybe it was vibes before and not now?

Everyone can take note, take note

Hm I know where Food and Drug was and I transplanted to the university. So what does that make me?

Nature’s big light came through your window and it opened up your eyelids?
December 27, 2025 at 6:40 PM
Hurrah! This sounds like the saga of my curtains from Toronto last spring — they wandered around NYC for a couple weeks and then suddenly showed up as out for delivery.

Will he turn all black as he ages, to fit the dominant coloration?

Thanks for sharing this! I loved it.

Is that a new predator in the house?
December 24, 2025 at 2:43 PM
I don't know enough to say. Just that of all his films, the only one I actively was semi-interested in seeing was the Prestige. (I was on a "watch all the Oscar nominees kick Barbenheimer year.) Most of the others just have never appealed to me enough to take the time.

I did see Oppenheimer, but that's it. The only other one I considered watching is The Prestige, but never have.

So sorry — I didn’t make it to that room! I was blinded by the dozens of different marble finishes and all the gold leaf. It really encapsulates the idea that you can buy all the things but if you can’t put them together, it doesn’t matter — it will look cheap and awful.

No. I had no idea it existed until today. But I looked up who the decorator mentioned in the listing was.
