Yeah, I have terrible habits with my displays (leaving them on while I'm away eating) and really don't like not having a taskbar of some sort which is Not Good for oled health 🥲

Can make screens go idle quicker but fixed bar is going to be fixed eh

Been debating whether I should get myself an oled screen to replace my 8-year-old monitor (and maybe my 14-year-old secondary display too)

Yes I keep tech for a whack ass long time lol

Why the fuck is it all networking terms (noble field) but it's actually all slop (not noble field)

its insane how once you've had a taste of helium's compact tab bar, looking at another browser feels just wrong with their big ass top bar

can't go back to browsers that make bad use of available screen real estate

Stickers can be bought for cheap along with the keys themselves from Yubico too!

Laser engraving is a more permanent alternative, but not as easy.

📣 PSA: if you're using a YubiKey or another hardware security key for logging into websites

⚠️ KEEP AN EXHAUSTIVE LIST OF ALL THE ACCOUNTS YOU'VE ENROLLED YOUR SECURITY KEY IN ⚠️

You'll thank me later, when you'll want to rotate your security keys for whatever reason. 🔐

I hate how github (and git itself) use "gpg" to refer to OpenPGP

gpg is a (terrible) program made by Garbage Never Usable, OpenPGP is the actual standard. Please use the correct name please please please

"lots of things" is quite vague 🫣

Fair enough ig

what kind of creds would you want to share between systems?

most of the time the only reason to do that is convenience, where it's much better to give each system its own set of credentials for compartimentalisation

💡 Did you know that you can securely manage secrets on Linux using your computer's TPM 2.0 via systemd-creds? Don't store credentials in plaintext!

Actually, content warnings are good at one thing which is gating dark humour.

I get that it's not to everybody's taste, and that's okay! But people should still be able to post it if they want to.

Having it gated by a CW is a good compromise. People know what to expect and *choose* to read it. 🤔

The changes I've PR'd to EasyPrivacy have been pulled into uAssets. All browsers w/ uBO should now appear as offering strong protection against ads & trackers in the EFF's Cover Your Tracks website.

That will significantly reduce the misinformation around "privacy-enhancing" browsers.

the mainstream media does a good job at showing certain things as evil. whether it's to push racist views or scare people away from actually secure technology, they always succeed at implanting the right seeds in people's minds

Perhaps you could get insight by enabling NEL and dumping all reports somewhere, to see the browser's pov on the matter. You can set it to log all network requests, not just errors.

Might be a network stability issue, and/or a race condition with QUIC and TCP race mechanism Chrome uses.
cynthia.dev
didn't you try to log what was going on to fix it already? lmao

Except they actively use it as a marketing tactic instead of being honest about it. That's where they lie to people and hurt privacy as a whole spreading misinformation on purpose for their own gain.
