I wrote this essay in October 2023 on the rise of fascism in Germany. www.zeit.de/kultur/2023-... Two nights ago I walked past two new and huge far-right election adverts, metres from where I had witnessed a potentially fatal attack. Two years ago it would have been unthinkable to see them there.
