Really helps having such high quality mapping and textures to work with, the team has been consistently putting together insane work and I'm so glad I get to light these maps after they do their thing!

they've got a depth setting too that i use to make it so they render slightly underneath the collectable on top

think the shader has like alpha blend on it? and i pick the color from the material for the shader on the mesh

These are a flat model with a transparent vertex color shader like how the gem flares in Spyro 2/3 are done

All just guessing on my part since I don’t know what the ps1 could handle in terms of audio but I feel like the games I played had semi crunchy audio regardless so I feel like they did it for performance/storage reasons then

it's not gonna make a bad sound amazing or anything but it can help bridge the gap a bit and also smooth out some rough edges while making it more crunchy
