The thing that some folks willingly misunderstand about Superman is that he’s a firefighter, not a cop. For him, the legalities are somebody else’s problem and he sees his job as simply helping as many people as he can. Obviously you can deep dive on that, but fundamentally: firefighter, not cop.

A pulmonary macrophage (carbon laden, yes that is carbon gunk/dust material it is ingesting!) and ciliated bronchial epithelial cells ...they help sweep gunk from your lungs. They are cute, remind me of some kind of muppet character if they had a face 😄🔬🥼 #cytology #cells #ODU #STEM

-Making a diagnosis is scary
-our cells as individual entities are as amazing as we are as individual entities
-nothing happens without a support system

Screening a digital slide, & came across this face on a squamous intermediate cell. What they actually are are neutrophils and an off center nucleus, but it's always fun to find a face, heart, or other shape in a cell. There is art in us. I ❤️ Cytology #cytology #cells

Cervical squamous cells:
Basal cell (think base or bottom layer)
Parabasal cell (around the base)
Intermediate cell (in the middle place)
Superficial cell (at the surface)
Note the decrease in the size of the nucleus and increase in cytoplasm from basal to superficial. #cells #cytology

This is a rough drawing of the endocervix- the canal that runs between the uterine and vaginal cavities. It is lined by a single layer of ciliated, tall, columnar epithelial cells that secrete mucous. #cells #cytology #histology

I'd like to show some of my drawings. Here is a neutrophil, indicated with an N. 2-5 lobed nucleus and the first to respond to the site of injury or infection as part of our innate immune system.

Megakaryocyte in bone marrow (M)- these are a precursor cell that has differentiated from the
hematopoeitic stem cell in the bone marrow to become part of our bodies own hemostasis(clotting). The
megakaryocyte cytoplasm fragments & bcomes platelets.
