So I was thinking of the Waffle Stitch which looks similar. Which it turns out it is just a front post DC (with another stitch to make it more square). So good one!

I dunno! My grandma did mention she thinks it was a double crochet with a "twist" so it could be. Ill have to look into what that looks like!
