I guess I just wasn't expecting to hear some of what I thought were very idiosyncratic details exclusive to me being part of the canon.

I believe in the astral and its malleability. I believe in a collective unconscious. And we largely share a global culture via the internet and media.
So the fact that many people would have similar scenery and themes in dreams is not surprising.
