Trump promised peace through strength and all we got is new and escalating wars through weakness.

But I have every confidence he will issue more very stern warnings on Truth Social to solve everything.

This devastating Substack post by Georgetown Law Professor @stevevladeck.bsky.social ought to cause Samuel Alito discomfort whenever he sees the word “Justice” in front of his name. He doesn’t deserve what that honorific implies.
Today’s “One First” takes a (very) deep dive into Justice Alito’s Saturday night dissent in the A.A.R.P. Alien Enemy Act case—and how it attempts to invent a series of procedural objections to the majority’s intervention that … simply don’t exist:

145. Justice Alito's Misbegotten Dissent in A.A.R.P.
Justice Alito's after-the-fact opinion dissenting from the Court's early-Saturday-morning Alien Enemy Act ruling rests on a revealing array of misrepresentations, misstatements, and non-sequiturs.

🧵 THREAD: A federal whistleblower just dropped one of the most disturbing cybersecurity disclosures I’ve ever read.

He's saying DOGE came in, data went out, and Russians started attempting logins with new valid DOGE passwords

Media's coverage wasn't detailed enough so I dug into his testimony:

Either the courts get to decide who is a “violent criminal” or “gang member”, or Donald Trump gets to decide.

That choice determines whether we are a Republic governed by laws or an autocracy living under a ruler.

If anything, cutting a deal with Trump instead of challenging his absurd executive orders gives the big law firms *less* leverage: now they're entangled with the administration in addition to being targeted by it.

The Fifth Amendment says due process is due all persons, whether the number eight or eight million.

And if there were a mass-violation exception to the Constitution, why have a constitutional at all?
And here we go -- Fox News is now saying we should get rid of "due process" because it's too cumbersome.

Brian Kilmeade: "But I also think it's not practical to think that we can do due process on 8 million people."

According to MAGA, if you hit a car with a baseball bat because you don’t like the company’s owner you’re a “terrorist”, but if you hit a Capitol police officer with a baseball bat because you don’t like the results of an election, you’re a “patriot.”

Do I have that just about right?

Trump defied a federal court order—and he’s daring the system to stop him. If Congress won’t act and the courts have no enforcement power, what happens next? Democracy doesn’t survive on its own. Are you ready to fight for it?
