Recently finished a year-long playthrough of Outlaws of Alkenstar. Wrote down my thoughts on it here.

It was a hell of a TTRPG weekend for me.

I GMed four games of Pathfinder 2e this weekend, for three different groups.

Took a massive bite out of my weekend but zero regrets!

There are some very creative folk on #WoW private servers. I was taken aback by this player-overhauled Silvermoon promenade.

One wonders why Blizzard can't do what amateurs can? Especially given the amateurs work with community-made tools.

@worldofwarcraft.blizzard.com would rather sue, I suppose.

A call from "Suspicious Number":

👩 "Hello sir. Were you part of an accident that was not your fault in the past 2 years?"

😏 I proceed to tell a rambling story about spilling milk, telling the caller brusquely "please don't interrupt" when she tries to.

👩 Hangs up. ☎

I love when scammers ring me.

#TTRPG pedantic pet peeve...

Does anyone find it off-putting when fantasy bird-humanoids have wings as extra limbs on their backs? That just feels wrong to me. They should be on their arms.

✅ Old D&D Aarakocra
❌ New D&D Aarakocra
✅ WoW Aarakoa

Not that either makes much sense evolutionary. 🤷‍♂️

In Sep. 2020 The Film Reroll Podcast performed an interesting experiment in TTRPGs by playing a Memento-like story. Each time the lone PC had a bout of short-term memory loss, a new player would take over, with zero knowledge of what was going on.

Severance is begging for such treatment.

You’ll indulge me in something of a rant?

Has this happened to you? You’re enjoying a TTRPG. One of the players has a bad roll. That player then proceeds to mope. The energy at the table noticeably chills as it seems like this roll has actually rather upset the player.

The "triangle song" bubbled up through my subconscious and I got to reminiscing about Square One TV, an educational maths show.

I love stuff like this. So kitsch but the actors (and all involved) are having fun and it shows.

We're lucky to still have stuff like this today e.g. Horrible Histories.

Someone asked on Reddit why people like prepared casters in Pathfinder 2e.

For me, it turns every daily preparation into that scene in a movie where the hero is presented with a cabinet- or room-full of weapons. Choices, choices. What's needed for today's task? Hmm... one of these, two of these...

Just going through some old screenshots of mine. I never realised how R-rated Divinity: Original Sin 2 was!

Any TTRPG GMs out there need a bit of puzzle inspiration?

Here's something a cooked up a while back based on the old Ultima games.

TTRPG Puzzle - The Eight Virtues
In a D&D campaign long ago I introduced a puzzle that was quite fun, and worked quite well. I figured I'd write it up for anyone who might be able to use it. The puzzle revolved around the...

Had an enjoyable #ttrpg weekend this weekend.

1) Played in a short D&D 5e campaign (started and finished this weekend) as an evil party.

2) Continued GMing my ongoing PF2e Alkenstar game.

3) Listened to @stevejacksongames.bsky.social play in Film Reroll's adaptation of Memento.

I see a lot of #gamedev posts that are depressing and defeatist. 😟

Back in 2012 I made a simple little game called Impulse. It didn't make me as rich as Mojang or land me a job at Valve. But it was satisfying to make, and nice to see people play it.

Hope it can be an inspiration. Links in replies.

Got home from work. Sat down at my desk. Turned the air conditioner on. It proceeded to rattle ominously. A few seconds later, something fell out of it. A dead lizard of some sort? Only... when I went to scoop it up, it wasn't dead at all! Don't worry: trapped it, released outside. Seemed healthy.

I just finished a chunk of coding work. As I was testing it and weeding out the bugs this track started to play. It reached crescendo just as the last bugs were squashed and the flow went through end-to-end without problem.

For a moment, my life had a soundtrack.

It's amazing how well Morrowind (Elder Scrolls 3) graphics hold up. These are shots from OpenMW, with increased resolution and draw distance only. No new assets.

Like most games of the era, Morrowind didn't animate the flora. It's a bit jarring to see stock-stationary trees, impervious to wind.

This is my first post.

I wanted to start a Bluesky account just to add to its growth spurt in recent days.

I did a similar thing by closing my Twitter account back when it was bought out.

In the grand scheme of things both are extremely tiny acts. I know that. But still, I did 'em anyway. 🤷
