The very juvenile one I remember from school was "would you rather sleep with an alive Margaret Thatcher or a recently deceased Britney Spears?"

Yes I went to an all boys school

There's a fair chance I'm being delusional but it feels like this was all completely avoidable if Labour had been moderately brave and moderately progressive across the board - as opposed to chasing Reform votes from the right.

A lot of people have been due a smiting for a while but this feels like standing at the foot of Olympus loudly insulting Zeus's power, during a storm.

Improved rail capacity meaning more commuter trains and more freight, meaning less traffic. A generational construction opportunity that's being used to train up thousands of young people. A three to one tree replacement programme. Connecting up the UK.

It's so deeply embarrassing how much of a priority we give to the staggeringly small amount of impact given the tremendous scale of the project, and not for example the two technical colleges purpose built to help train a future generation of engineers.

Zach isn't wrong.

A vast majority of the problems of delivery came from a cowardly and lazy Tory government that wanted to pause and review every 15 minutes.

We can't preserve the country in aspic, we need to build. If not this, then what?

The real cost of HS2 is not getting the eff on with it.

How are we ever going to do or be anything if any action for the wider country is a referendum on local impact.

I don't think anyone, ever, in the history of time could believably accuse Robin Ince of chasing fashion.

Maybe, just maybe, a man whose been trying to pump a little goodness into the world for decades might get a sliver of the benefit of the doubt.

If a strike doesn't cause an impact it can be ignored. The general public isn't the audience.

If you ban doctors from acting to improving their working conditions they'll be squeezed until no one wants to do it as a job. We're not exactly afloat with a glut of young doctors are we?
December 15, 2025 at 4:29 PM
Fortunately if they push too far, people will simply not need doctors.

Truly incredible insight here.

Why are so committed to defending someone quite clearly not doing a very good job? Like what's in it for you?

I can't possibly imagine what objective metric you're using to get you there

Are you old enough to remember when taking your talking points for the far right was bad?

But he's not very good. And we have quite a lot of problems not.

"Please buy shares in our lose-making technology that only survives on the largesse of venture capital, which doesn't understand the technology."

Sounds like a rock solid investment

So they're using a product that costs their company money to increase their productivity at a company that loses money for each new user?

I wish I was this good at business

Sorry, what the fuck after you talking about?

Completely agree. It shouldn't be the preserve of the 'blood and soil' crowd to talk about society encouraging and supporting younger people in having and raising the future generations.
