10/ 10 A throwback to the Errol Flynn swashbucklers this film was largely ignored. But damn it's a rollicking good time. It has a score to match John Deney's Cutthroat Island.

9 / 10 this is one of those films where the score is perfectly attuned to the film. Basil Poledouris 's score to Conan the Barbarian is just stunning. Some scores don't "sound" the same separated from the film...this is one of those like Star Wars that is actually better as a listening experience.

6 / 10 what can I say one of the best Westerns ever features a fabulous Dimitri Tiomkin score.
This film was so good John Wayne remade it twice. But the original is best. Wayne supposedly hated High Noon & made this in response.
Interestingly Dimitri scored both.
