If you have the time, go down (by car) to Glengarriff, and go on the Healy Pass. Lovely drive up a gorgeous valley. Once you're at the top there's a tiny shop, stop left just after it and go and walk up the stones on the left side of the road. Breathtaking view down the next valley.

Maybe not plot twists but the one that had the most quick changes was the Chaos Walking series by Patrick Ness
