Liked it too. There was some handwaving when the bad guy got away without any issues in an escape pod (everything else on the ship was "locked down and required an adult"), but outside that the first 2 episodes were great.

Fair.

The right co-opted "Facts don't care about your feelings" too. It was a leftist phrase.
January 17, 2026 at 10:48 PM
Don't legitimize that word please. "Woke" should only be used for "he/she woke up just now".

stop fucking following people to promote your fucking books!

Did some napkin math. The dinosaur era lasted about 660.000 times longer than the human fossil fuel era.

Would've been nice. Maybe a certain amount of technology requires a certain sized brain? But.. if you just keep developing technology, there's no way to keep up...

My speculation is that "nature" on planet earth was always very fragile towards civilizations, as evidenced by how we were able to increase CO2 by 50% in the blink of an eye (half of which since 1995 or so).

The cautionary principle should've been our unbreakable religion.

Intelligence is an evolutionary dead-end. It's like if the pistol shrimp evolved a literal pistol and just started dominating the entire planet.

And, as all animals seem to behave: If there's resources available, the population grows.

The end

Seems like an 'America first' type opinion, yeah.

Yup. Dreame L40 Ultra AE here. It just works, and it's ~$500.

You just gotta make sure to get one with a front facing camera, so they can do *real* obstacle avoidance (unlike roborock...).
December 18, 2025 at 12:49 AM
Ehh.. try Dreame. I specifically got rid of my roborock (that didn't have a front facing camera) because it got stuck everywhere and was *Not* set-and-forget.

Dreame L40 Ultra AE (phew...) is ~$500, and is very much set-and-forget. It mops too.

Though I have had it lose one of it's mopping pads.

Hey, I have a question: Out of the global warming caused by GHGs and Albedo change (in the last ~250 years), how much is each responsible for in percentage? Roughly.

"GHGs 60% Albedo 40%"

It's ironic that all the supposedly "good" things about religion always seem to have some caveat about "killing non-believers, and you get to feel good about it".
December 7, 2025 at 6:00 PM
Here's my "crazy" fear: What if all of these methane emissions that warmed the planet in bursts over thousands of years *before* 1750, were to all melt, decay and emit at virtually the same time?

Has anyone even run (recent) calculations on what that might look like? Because I smell doom.

If climate science becomes popular in media again, don't forget to explain about what various temperatures mean in real life. I'd say anything above 3C is just "The death of civilization", with billions and billions dead.

It's just a random image that doesn't affect the paper what-so-ever. Don't make a hen out of a feather.

"If we just had eco-socialism there would be no need for bills at all since everyone would get the basic needs for survival in return for a few hours of work a week, and the energy sources would be picked based on maximum altruistic use rather than 'what's cheapest'"

JFC, the amount of water in the atmosphere has increased THREE HUNDRED percent in 20 years??

Too rich and you have a tendency to just abandon your humanity. Trump, Bezos, Zuck, Musk etc. are all symptoms of this cause.

The oligarchs in Russia/China also thought themselves "So smart and handsome they can do anything"... and suddenly there's ground coming at them at tremendous speed.

Me: "I kinda miss when the consequences happening was obvious, but still in the future"

Consequences: "Allow us to introduce ourselves"

Oh it's technically much worse if you account for other greenhouse gases. I'd say we're probably at ~520-550 ppm and rising.

The reason some graphs don't use those metrics is basically because of tradition. That's it. It takes time to change things.
