You can’t even really look at last year because Arizona State and Boise State had byes which was obviously wrong. But these end up being neutral site bowl games - famously unpredictable affairs - at the end of the day.

The team that was favored in the quarterfinals is now 5-3 straight up, even though the higher seeds are 1-7. I think that’s more telling than anything.
