I often feel like Roger exists just because DG decided Bree needed a love interest who totally bought the time travel stuff but forgot that you need more in a partner than “believes I was conceived in 1746.” Though I think show Roger is generally worse than the books as far as his sexism.

Seriously. Jamie is not perfect (especially the book version IMO), but he often looks like a total feminist icon next to Roger. By Book 3 Jamie is like “Claire’s career is as much who she is as her love for me” and Roger never gets anywhere close to that.

I’m having a day where I’m full of feels about how Claire has been Mother of the Bride three times (Marsali and Fergus, Bree, and Rachel and Ian), and how emotional she is about getting to give what she never had, so I voted HenryxJulia, but it was a tough choice!

Exactly. I wrote a fic set in the aftermath of S6 where J and C are concerned about letting Mrs Bug back in the house post “Claire almost got hanged for murder and our housekeeper got weird” and when they send them away to make sure their food isn’t poisoned Jamie makes all the meals. 🤷🏻‍♀️😂

Oh, it does sort of come up in book 2. (Why do I remember this and not my child’s social security number?). When they’re talking about how to cook potatoes and J says something like “I’ve never gotten the impression you’re into cooking”’and C says “I’m not but I can boil a potato.”

Jamie does say it in Book 6 (when C wants a catalogue of her virtues) but I love that Sam worked it in earlier. 😂 And honestly everyone can be forgiven for trying to forget Book 6 exists. I’m sufficiently middle aged I read that one when it came out and it’s a Ball of Yikes even by DG standards. 🤦🏻‍♀️

The other day I was watching an episode and I was like, “oh right, it is canon Claire isn’t all that great at cooking, it’s not just fandom running with it.” 😂

As far as I can tell fandom ran with “obviously Firouz just posed as a manservant so he could live with Lamb and Lamb is queer as hell” and I think that’s beautiful. (Am I working this into my current WIP also? I sure am!). Fanon is a great thing. 😍
