I think that the combination of wanting to be known and having been known is a riptide of emotion which often pulls me under, and today is a day that feels like drowning.

no, i can't say that it has. i largely consider my experience on social media to be neutral to mildly awful; both in how i feel about it and how i use it.

but, there was this one really funny meme...

Has anything great happened in your life because of social media?

i thought a good middle ground would be a baritone guitar, which i've heard a few times and seems like it'd give me the tone i'd like when i'm playing solo.

other than the SG, the other Gibson's i tried were way to heavy for me... a Les Paul feels like it weighs 16lbs or so. this Epiphone is pushing my limit at close to 10lbs, and so i usually play that one while i'm sitting down and can take the weight on my thighs.

i'd like to try a bass as well :)

i really do like PRS guitars, but i've never played one so i'm not sure how it'd feel or - more importantly - how heavy it is.

turns out the SG is just about 6.3lbs, and that seems to be the biggest factor in my long term playing comfort, which is why the Fly interested me at first

casually posting guitars on main.

i traded in an LTD256 for the Epiphone, but that's still a pretty heavy guitar for me to play for an extended period, so i end up with far more time on the SG.

i wanted to get a Parker Fly but i don't play well enough to justify that cost 😂

i'm hardly ever there for the goodtimes, just the protest times... at least that's how it's been for the last few years. i'm not terribly far away, all things being equal, as i'm South Seattle. that said, the only club i tend to go to on my own is The Mercury since it's pretty queer and private

objectively i know this is true...

it's one of those areas in my life that i really do struggle with even though i'm a naturally outgoing and gregarious person.

*notes for therapy* hahaahah

that's mainly why i've been taking myself out for lunch a few times a month, just to break up the routine of things. and i usually go to the same place here in my part of the city, a fun TexMex joint, where the staff all know me and are super cool.
dahliablackthorne.bsky.social
that's my preference tbh. i don't have a lot of comfort things at home - like food, drinks which aren't water etc. so i always feel more at ease meeting people out and enjoying that space, and going from there if the mood strikes us.
dahliablackthorne.bsky.social
well, that's a good recommendation :)

there's a real art to skillful interviews, that's for certain.

i haven't been, but i've seen it come up a few times on the tl

i know a fair few people yet not many of them to the level where i'd feel comfortable inviting them over, which is usual for me.

i need to work on strengthening the social connections i have, it seems like :)
dahliablackthorne.bsky.social
hahahaah indeed 🤣 half of my living room is taken up my musical instruments and computers, both are the kind of hobbies that take up far more space than i thought they would :)
dahliablackthorne.bsky.social
that sounds lovely actually :)

there are a few people i know who can meet me in a fairly equal way, and those interactions always edify me.

i think i'm going to have to be more intentional in some of this going forward tbh
dahliablackthorne.bsky.social
oh, that's a good idea regarding creative projects. i've been in activism mode for so long that i've really let my creative side languish.

i've been taking myself out for lunch a few times a week, which has been a welcome change from my apartment.

i should reach out to my friends who are local and see if any of them have time off which would allow us to get lunch/coffee sometime.

Question for single people who live alone: how do you self-motivate to keep yourself engaged? Are there any tricks/tips/hints you've discovered along the way that you could share?

Asking for me.
dahliablackthorne.bsky.social
that's just math and that's how it works
