Tragically, this past year the UN recorded the highest-ever death toll of migrants in transit, and significant levels of internal displacement. For this reason, we emphasize the importance of upholding the rights and dignity of all migrants and refugees.

🌍 In 2000, the UN General Assembly established this International Day, considering the large and increasing number of migrants in the world. Migration is a global phenomenon driven by many different forces, yet the common denominators are aspirations for dignity, safety and peace.
